Elbow Pain
Elbow pain can make even simple daily activities—like lifting, gripping, or reaching—uncomfortable and frustrating.
Our expert team provides specialist assessment and treatment for a wide range of elbow conditions, from sports injuries and repetitive strain to arthritis and nerve-related problems.
Common issues such as tennis elbow (lateral epicondylitis), golfer’s elbow (medial epicondylitis), arthritis, and nerve compression are all treated using evidence-based approaches, including physiotherapy, injection therapy and tailored rehabilitation programmes.

Tennis Elbow
Tennis elbow, or lateral epicondylitis, is a condition where the tendons on the outside of the elbow become irritated due to overuse. It affects the muscles responsible for extending the wrist and fingers, leading to pain and reduced grip strength
Despite the name, tennis elbow isn’t limited to tennis players. It’s commonly caused by repetitive gripping, lifting, or wrist movements—often from work tasks, DIY, racquet sports, or computer use. It typically develops gradually through repeated strain on the tendon.
- Pain or tenderness on the outer elbow
- Discomfort gripping twisting or lifting
- Weakened grip strength
- Pain that may radiate to the forearm
Our team can support with tendon loading, advice on activity modification and if needed support your recovery with an injection to reduce inflammation
Golfers Elbow
Golfer’s elbow, or medial epicondylitis, is a condition involving irritation of the tendons on the inside of the elbow. It affects the muscles responsible for gripping, wrist flexion, and forearm rotation, leading to pain and reduced function in daily or sporting activities.
Despite the name, golfer’s elbow can affect anyone—not just golfers. It’s typically caused by repetitive wrist flexion, gripping, or lifting, often seen in manual work, weight training, racquet sports, or repetitive hand use. The condition develops from overloading the tendon over time.
- Pain or tenderness on the inner side of the elbow
- Discomfort gripping lifting or wrist movements
- Weakened grip
- Pain radiating down the inner forearm
Our team can support with tendon loading, advice on activity modification and if needed support your recovery with an injection to reduce inflammation
Triceps Tendonitis
Triceps tendonitis is an overuse injury where the tendon connecting the triceps muscle to the elbow becomes irritated or inflamed. It typically causes pain at the back of the elbow and may affect strength and performance in pushing or straightening movements.
Triceps tendonitis usually develops from repetitive or forceful extension of the elbow, such as weightlifting, throwing, or manual work. It may also occur after sudden increases in training load or poor technique during pressing movements like push-ups or bench press.
- Pain or tenderness at the back of the elbow
- Discomfort when straightening the arm or pushing
- Swelling or tightness feeling near the elbow joint
- Weakness or fatigue in the muscle during overhead or loaded movements
Our team can provide targeted treatment to reduce persistant inflammation, and irritation, improve tendon strength and correct contributing movement patterns.
Biceps Tendonitis
Biceps tendonitis is inflammation or irritation of the tendon that connects the biceps muscle to the shoulder or elbow. It commonly affects the long head of the biceps tendon at the front of the shoulder and may cause pain during lifting or overhead movements.
This condition is often caused by repetitive shoulder use, particularly in activities involving overhead reaching, lifting, or throwing. Poor shoulder mechanics, muscle imbalances, or sudden increases in load can contribute to tendon overload and inflammation.
- Pain at the front of the shoulder or upper arm
- Discomfort during lifting reaching or overhead activity
- Tenderness over the biceps tendon
- Feeling of weakness or fatigue in the shoulder
Our team can provide an accurate assessment and treatment to settle inflammation, improve shoulder mechanics, and strengthen the tendon to support recovery
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Cubital tunnel syndrome is a condition where the ulnar nerve becomes compressed or irritated as it passes through the cubital tunnel on the inside of the elbow. This can lead to numbness, tingling, and weakness in the hand and fingers—commonly referred to as the “funny bone” nerve.
The condition can develop from prolonged elbow bending, resting on the elbow, repetitive movements, or direct pressure. It’s common in people who lean on their elbows at a desk, sleep with bent arms, or perform repetitive arm motions at work or in sport.
- Numbness or tingling in the little or ring finger
- Hand weakness or difficulty with grip
- Symptoms worsened by prolonged elbow bending or pressure
- Pain or acahing on the inside of the elbow
Our team can offer ultrasound imaging to support diagnosis and guided injections to relieve inflammation to help restore comfort and function of your hand or arm.
